Infrastructure.Interface -

This project is the interface for Infrastructure modules. Things which are to be exposed out of the infrastructure modules have their contracts defined over here.

You can include
1. Business entities.
2. Service interfaces.
3. Constant definitions.

Workspacenames, commandnames which are made available as constants are defined in respective classes under Constants of Infrastructure modules.

In CAB, each command is uniquely identified by a string. Using this string, a particular command can be assigned to multiple UI elements, like a button or a link label.
Such command names can be defined in the CommandName.cs class.

In CAB, we can publish events that allow us to communicate between different components. Each such event is identified by a string. These events are global to the application and are hence defined under EventTopicNames.cs class.

Workspaces are those controls which can encapsulate smart parts. Each workspace is idenfied by a unique string, whose names can be defined in the WorkSpaceNames class.

I have installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional edition on my laptop. So when I tried to install the Smart Client Software Factory, there was an error and the installation did not happen initially.

When I checked the log, the error message was

“Install Error : Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.MissingReferencesException: This extension cannot be installed because the following references are missing: – Guidance Automation Extensions at Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.ExtensionManagerService.BeginInstall(IInstallableExtension installableExtension, Boolean perMachine, AsyncOperation asyncOp) at Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.ExtensionManagerService.InstallWorker(IInstallableExtension extension, Boolean perMachine, AsyncOperation asyncOp) “

So I needed to install the Guidance Automation Extensions in order to do that.

A simple way to download and install GAX is to open the Extension Manager.

It can be done via Tools => ExtensionManager.

1. Getting Started.

2. Guidance And Resources

3. Latest News.

Under the Guidance and Resources Tab, search for the option of ” Extending Visual Studio “. Under this you can find the option to open Extension Manager.

Once the extension manager is opened. Search for the Guidance Automation Extensions in the search text box available at the top right corner. Once found you can download it, which automatically also installs the same.
